How to invoice in a foreign currency
- Agree on the currency with your client first. It's usually the one in your contract or quote.
- Pick it under Currency: USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, CHF, JPY, INR or MXN. Amounts get the right number of decimals (none for yen).
- Type your rates in that currency. SiskinBill doesn't convert exchange rates, so do any conversion before you enter prices.
- Choose the Paper size: A4 for clients in Europe, the UK and most of the world, US Letter for the US and Canada.
- In Payment terms, add details that work internationally, for example your IBAN and BIC/SWIFT code for a bank transfer, or the payment service you both use.
- Download the PDF.
Avoid the usual mix-ups
- Dollar signs: US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand dollars (and Mexican pesos) all print as "$". Add a line to Notes such as "All amounts in CAD."
- Dates: the PDF writes dates as "Dec 4, 2026", so nobody has to guess whether 04/12 means April or December.
- Symbols on the PDF: where a currency sign can't be printed by the PDF's font, the code is shown instead (for example "INR 12,500.00").
- Names and addresses: the PDF font prints Latin letters with Western European accents (é, ü, ñ, ø). Other scripts, and some Central European letters such as ł or č, show as "?". The app warns you before you download.
- Transfer fees: international transfers often lose a fee on the way. Say in the terms who pays it, for example "Please pay all transfer fees so the full amount arrives."
Tax on cross-border invoices
The rules depend on where you and your client are and what you sell. Services to a business in another country are often invoiced without your local sales tax or VAT, and in the EU and UK a "reverse charge" note may be needed. Set Tax rate to 0 when no tax applies and put any required wording in Notes. Check the exact rules with an accountant or your tax authority.
Invoice generator FAQ
Does SiskinBill convert currencies?
No. It formats amounts in the currency you choose but doesn't look up exchange rates. Convert your prices first, then enter them.
Can I show two currencies on one invoice?
The totals are in one currency. If your client wants a reference amount, add it to Notes, for example "approx. USD 1,080 at today's rate".
Which paper size should I use for a client in Europe?
A4. Most countries outside the US and Canada use A4, and a Letter-size PDF can print with odd margins there.
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. Create and download as many PDF invoices as you like, with no signup. Each PDF carries a small "Made with SiskinBill" line in the footer.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything happens in your browser, and your draft is stored only in this browser's local storage. Use "Start a new invoice" to clear it. The only things ever sent are cookie-free visit counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics, see Privacy), anonymous counts of which buttons are used (for example, 'a PDF was downloaded'), and an anonymous error report if something breaks (error text, browser, page, app version). Never anything you type or upload. Button counts are skipped if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.
How is tax calculated?
Tax is applied to the subtotal after the discount. Each line is rounded to the cent, and the tax is rounded once. Shipping is added after tax.
Can I add my logo?
Yes. Upload a PNG or JPG. It is resized in your browser and placed at the top of the PDF.
Which currencies are supported?
USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, CHF, JPY, INR and MXN. Where the PDF font has no symbol (for example the rupee sign), the currency code is used instead.
Is this tax or legal advice?
No. Check what your invoices must include where you do business (for example a VAT or GST number).
